Midnite Jonny Band
Rosy Greer – Lancashire Blues Archive
John thrives on the close contact of an audience and plays the blues effortlessly from one style to another, a crowd pleaser in spades. His own works were on display, from his debut album entitled “Lyin’ Eyes”, this was featured on the sound track of the movie “Suicide Blonde”, other great songs from the album are “Trouble Fallin’ Down”(like Rain)great riffs, “Walkin’ The Floor “and “Gypsy Curse”. All are winners on this album, and any blues fan would like this in their collection.
With a change of guitars, a Muddy Waters blues shuffle, then into some slow blues with impeccable guitar. Adding a funky side, a very classy slap bass solo and show of time for the drums. Playing some of the blues classics through the second set, from Howlin Wolf to BB King, a tribute to Jack Bruce with ‘I’m So Glad’ for the finale and an encore of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s ‘I Can’t Say No’. A great end to a fabulous evening. Midnite Johnny has an album out at the moment, ‘So Complicated’ and another in the mix ‘Long Road Home’ due for release in the new year.
Reverbnation listener review of “Hello Trouble”
“instant introduction, listening to the stringed instruments immediately took me back! Brilliant use and arrangement of
varied instruments, unbelievable solo! Male vocals are just soooo smooth and bluesy, absolutely clear in pronunciation and tone, the songs duration was appropriate and the level of sound was satisfactory. ”
